Congratulations to Youngsup Song for successfully defending his PhD on Mechanistic understanding and enhancing pool boiling heat transfer via surface property and structure design.
During his PhD study, Youngsup investigated the boiling crisis mechanisms during pool boiling associated with surface properties and structures through theoretical and experimental analysis. Based upon the fundamental understanding, he designed boiling surfaces that significantly enhanced the critical heat flux and heat transfer coefficient simultaneously. His thesis has important implications for a variety of boiling applications, where the reliable and accurate estimation and enhancement of boiling heat transfer are critical.
